Evaluating trial plants in the field.

More than ever before, we are committed to your success in the field. Growers are looking for consistent, uniform, and reliable plants to help them scale operations more efficiently—and the need for automation and lower costs keeps growing. Enter, stage left: the next generation of autoflower cannabis.

We have always rooted for the elimination of guesswork in your grow operations, and we see seed-grown autoflower as a key player in that goal. For growers managing large cultivation and production operations, Phylos is developing low-touch, high-yield, and disease-resistant varieties (to name just a few traits). We also work with breeder partners to optimize their varieties, help them find a path to market, and pay them royalties for their years of dedication.

Our CEO, Ralph Risch, on this new chapter of Phylos:

A wave of regulatory changes and a corresponding increase in investment capital is driving a rapid scale-up of cannabis production across the U.S. Growers who are striving to serve millions more patients now require genetics that increase the productivity of each square foot of licensed canopy, with minimal infrastructure build-outs and fewer touches of the plant.
Phylos is ready to meet this challenge. We have reinvented ourselves, changing up our executive team, and focusing our work on projects that directly address the needs of commercial cultivators and their patients. Our plant development pipeline is delivering continuous improvement in agronomic traits, disease resistance, and cannabinoid and terpene profiles.
We are honored to be working with some of the most experienced growers in the world to help scale their operations with increased reliability and reduced cost. If you are facing similar challenges, we would love to show you our work, and let you try the plants for yourself. — Ralph Risch, CEO

AGRONOMIC SOLUTIONS FOR GROWERS AND THE PLANET

Our R&D and breeding programs develop varieties with pathogen resistance and other agronomic traits like higher yield, shorter flowering time, and “low-touch” through marker-assisted selection. We want to see plants that support growers with efficiencies like mechanization and automation, that reduce the burden on our environment through water and land use, and provide more access to these incredible plants. And when we make discoveries that can keep advancing our knowledge of cannabis genetics, we are excited to partner with academic or nonprofit researchers.

CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE

For decades, cannabis breeders have created incredible, unique varieties without proper credit or compensation. Our breeder partners utilize our in-house experts and rigorous quality control to optimize their varieties and ensure they have a path to market—whether as Phylos seed or clones through our partnership with Conception Nurseries. For some, we have even helped them file for intellectual property protections such as patents or PVPs (plant variety protections). We pay our licensing partners royalties for their years of hard work.

UNLOCKING THE POTENTIAL OF CANNABIS & HEMP

We started Phylos with the belief that hemp and cannabis can transform how we live–from advancements in health and wellness, to its many potential uses in feed and fiber, to aiding in the fight against climate change. A genuine belief in the power of cannabis drives everything we do.

To all our customers and supporters, thank you for joining us in our quest to unlock the potential of this exceptional plant.
